Levant Institute for Strategic Affairs

The Levant Institute for Strategic Affairs (LISA) is a policy think tank whose mission is to address and promote key solutions to the fundamental economic, societal and political issues facing Lebanese society in the 21st century.

LISA works in coalitions and networks to strengthen social movements, and as a policy think tank, offers unique approaches to public policy. We work with the public sector, private sector, and civil society organizations to bridge the gap between policy think tanks, activist networks, decision makers and other stakeholders.

The Institute engages in three main areas of program work:

  1. Promoting social and economic solutions in Lebanon through policy work

  2. Fostering strategic alliances to strengthen stakeholder cooperation and representation

  3. Building a vibrant intergenerational community with a common commitment to democratic values

LISA was founded by economists, international experts, CFOs with extensive work experience in the Levant (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq) in the domain of public finance, strategic planning, corporate finance, risk management and social and economic reform. Since its founding, LISA has provided advisory to public and private institutions when it comes to strategic communication, public policies, economic issues regional development, and risk analysis. It has been asked for advice and guidance by embassies in Lebanon such as that of the United States of America and Holland, looking for insights in key sectors like that electricity, social security safety nets and Syrian refugees.

Sami Nader

Sami Nader is the Director of the Institute of Political Science at Saint Joseph University. He is an economist, Middle Eastern affairs analyst and communications expert with extensive expertise in corporate strategy and risk management. He currently directs the Levant Institute for Strategic Affairs, focusing on the economics and geopolitics of the Levant.
